FBF delivered a purpose-built acoustic barrier fencing across the residental development on the Gold Coast called SkyRidge.

The barrier fencing is featured on stages 10-14 to help reduce road traffic noise impacts within the residential area. The fencing solution that FBF proposed incorporated 1.5m and 1.8m high barriers, strategically positioned along selected boundaries based on site-specific traffic noise modelling.

The acoustic performance required of the barrier fence resulted in a 15kg/m2 surface density and the completed fence requiring virtual gap-free construction.

A key challenge was integrating the acoustic barrier with the changing site levels and retaining walls while maintaining the nominated heights above adjacent residential lot pads. Coordination between the acoustic, civil and retaining wall designs was critical to achieving a consistent and effective boundary solution.
