As part of the recreational facilities upgrade at Ewen Maddock Dam, FBF was engaged to upgrade the existing boardwalk structure. This was a complex but highly rewarding project for our team—and one that now benefits the entire community.

The goal was to replace the weathered boardwalk with a safer, more durable structure while preserving its natural character in this beautiful setting. Hundreds of meters of decking boards and joists were removed and replaced with purpose-built marine-grade timber and stainless-steel fixings, ensuring long-term strength and resilience in a harsh environment.

Much of the work was carried out over water, requiring our team to operate from boats, on static lines, and in life jackets to maintain the highest safety standards. The old galvanized handrail was replaced with a custom 40mm square aluminium balustrade, creating a safe, non-climbable barrier that will serve visitors for many years to come.

The finished boardwalk is a lasting upgrade—built for safety, designed for longevity, and perfectly integrated into its natural surroundings.
